The Way I Used to Be - By:Amber Smith (Review)

OH.MY.GOOBER! The feels in this book really get you going. I know they got me going. I got hooked from the first two sentences. You really do feel every emotion that ruptures through this book. The meaning behind this story really does have a strong message.
HOPE.

One horrible event can truly change someone’s perspective on life in a heart. Freshman year during winter break, Eden wakes up in the middle of the night to her older brother’s best friend (Kevin) raping her. When she wakes up the next morning she tries to convince herself that it was all a dream. That’s until she uncovers herself and see’s the evidence from the night before.
The entire book is sectioned off in four years of Eden’s life, Freshmen, Sophomore, Junior, and Senior year. As a reader you will get to witness Eden grow up, and also watch as she deal with the burden of her deepest secret. You get to see how she uses boys and sex to try and cover up what happened to her, while losing her friends in the process.
Amber Smith is an amazing writer, the way she captures Eden’s every emotion is heart felt. It’s almost as if you become the only friend Eden confides in. I personally have cried so many times through out this book, as well as being angry. Even though the story ends with me wanting to know more, I have to say that I am truly satisfied with how everything turned out. I don’t want to spoil the book for anyone who hasn’t read it, but let’s just say everything that unravels at the end of the book really does come into full circle. I am beyond happy with this read, and I solidly give it 4 out of five stars.
Now let me just say, I am giving this 4 stars only because I wish to read more about where Eden ends up in life after high school. Yes, I know, I am very bitter.

If you haven’t picked up this book yet then you really need to! I mean I have no clue what you are waiting for. This book has a very strong message in it. Whether you are a rape victim or not there are many things you can relate to in this book.
