This is Where it Ends By: Marieke Nijkamp

OH. MY. GOSH!! I am beyond speechless with this read. I don’t think I’ve ever read a book that had my heart pounding and had me cry my eyes out just by reading the first four pages. I have nothing but praise for this book. I do understand that it touches a very sensitive subject, but it is very beautifully written.
The story is set in Alabama at Opportunity High School. The whole student body is invited to attend the principles new school semester speech. Within seconds after the speech the student get dismissed to go back to class. Suddenly the auditorium doors won’t open, then all hell breaks loose. The story is from four different character views who are students at Opportunity High School, and with them you will experience the heart pounding terror that happens.
The way Marieke Nijkamp wrote this story is very unique, the set up is fantastic. She did a wonderful job making me cry. Thank you Marieke! I mean that with total sincerity. School shootings are very sensitive subjects since there have been many cases of it happening all over the U.S. When school shootings happen of course we hear about the victims, but in the end we constantly hear about the shooter. Why the shooter did it, how many people he injured, how many people he killed, his violent history, etc. The list can literally go on and on. In Marieke’s story we get to experience what it’s like from a victims perspective, we get to experience fear, loss, and all the other emotions in between. We even get to experience different types of love, and in the end we get to see a community come together as one. I highly recommend this book to everyone who loves a good read that can make you experience all the emotions you can ever think of.
The feels in this book are no joke, you will not be disappointed.
